Red flowering gum

In continuation of celebration of Australian native flora, this I am certain is a Western Australian variety of gum tree blossom. I can tell by its enormous nuts, 2-3cm in diameter.

Today was hot, around 36 degrees in Sydney, and windy. The purple jacarandas (native to South Africa) are out or coming out, depending on their location. There's a huge one two doors up, not in full flower, which is good because the wind half trashed those which were. At the same time, the yellow flowers of the silky oak three doors up have never been so prolific. My extra shows the jacaranda and silky oak flowering together as seen from our back yard.

Thanks for hosting BikerBear. Have a great weekend all.
