Soggy leaves, soggy day!
Today saw periods of torrential rain followed by brief periods of sunshine. The weather reflected a very difficult day. As a family, we are experiencing the harsh realities of the crisis in social care and health first hand. A serious relapse in a neurological condition has led to the immediate need for ‘double up care’ in the community. This means that 2 paid carers are required 4x a day to meet the most basic needs of toileting, dressing etc. A day spent on the phone to social workers and care providers brought despair (rain), followed by brief periods of hope to be shattered again. Basically, as reported in the news there is a serious shortage of carers. So, we have a bit of hope (possible sunshine!), that a very stretched emergency service may be able to provide some (possibly not all) of what is needed. Assessment tomorrow!
Hopefully more metaphorical sunshine and real sunshine tomorrow!
