Signs of habitation..
on the Oxford Canal today where we took a lovely but chilly walk. Three boats moored together rumbling gently as their generators tried to keep the occupants warm. Smoke puffing gently from their chimneys in the icy wind.
The Oxford Canal was one of the most important and profitable transport links in Britain in the late 1700's with most of the commercial traffic between the Midlands and London using the route.
This canal was threatened with closure in the 1960's but thankfully it was rejected by the then government and now it is thriving once again, this time with pleasure boats and it is currently one of the most crowded sections of canal during the summer months.
