Kew Gardens
A trip to Kew Gardens today to meet up with Adam and Tomoko before the Japanese trail finishes this weekend. We were expecting a very wet morning but amazingly, the sun came out as we arrived and never went back in again - we were very lucky. There were a couple of special exhibits in the Temperate House, including this artwork by Chiharu Siota, which consists of red rope with 5000 haiku suspended from the structure. As you might imagine, it was very busy in there (we had to queue for about 15 mins as numbers were restricted) so we didn't get a chance to see the calligraphy performance, but we looked at the chalk garden display, the chrysantemums and bonsai, and listened to the ambient music by Yosi Horikawa that was playing. There's so much to see at Kew that we didn't get to visit the whole garden but that will leave plenty for another visit in the spring or early summer next year.
