Halloween Pumpkin

It's the first time we've grown a large pumpkin on our allotment!  The end result may look fine for halloween but it was a bit of a palaver.  The pumpkin itself had gone 'over' and the innards were a bit on the squishy side with a distinct aroma.  There was a load of 'flesh' to remove - the food waste bin was full numerous times.  I don't remember my Dad having this problem with the turnip he made into a lantern for us kids back in the day!
