Behind the dyke

The ivy on the lee side of the Kirkyard dyke will provide shelter and sustenance for bees and hover flies tempted out by winter shelter - the beech trees have been stripped almost bare by recent winds.

The dyke was built to the regulation 2 ells high to prevent body snatchers carrying out their nefarious trade.
