Hoverfly larva

In my quest for fungus, I was peering along this log and a moving creature caught my eye.  It was moving rather sharpish for a 1/25th shutterspeed but he paused momentarily for a photo shoot - or at least, his middle did! I'm guessing he'll be overwintering somewhere.
