Packwood House
We have been staying close to a couple of National Trust properties so wanted to make use of our membership of the NT. We chose to visit Packwood House - another NT site that I have not visited before,
The house is a Grade 1 listed, timber framed Tudor house - built in the 16th Century and extensively restored and extended between the First and Second World Wars. It is surrounded by extensive gardens.
We were fortunate to see it on a glorious sunny day. There was frost on the ground when I woke up, but the sky at that point was clear blue. Although some clouds appeared during the day, it remained lovely throughout.
After Packwood, we went on to look at Kingswood Junction on the canal network. This is the junction of the Grand Union Canal and the Stratford Canal. It is 10 years since I was last there, and many more since I cruised that section on a narrowboat. The short link between the two canals is crossed by a railway bridge which is to be replaced over the Christmas period. Preparation work started this week.
