Birch Trees

When I woke up early this morning (6.30am) I was pleased to see frost and fog outside, such perfect conditions for landscape photography - but did I get up and go take some photos in the woods? -  no, I was too lazy comfortable and warm in my bed!

By the time I did get to the woods it was sunny and the fog had cleared. It certainly was colder today, but a lovely day all the same. I came across a man taking photos of some trees in autumn colour, and he was properly set up with his tripod and filters - I went over to chat to him, feeling bad that I had not made the effort to do the same this morning. It turns out it was someone from my camera club and he had been there since 7.30am this morning. Anyway we had a nice chat while Xena waited patiently next to me, before I continued with my walk.

During the autumn I always love it when the birch trees change colour as their leaves are so small and they make a pretty backdrop in the woods, which I photographed here.

I am an avid reader - and listener to audiobooks - as many books I read and listen to the audiobook at the same time (using Whispersync which syncs where you are so you can pick up on the Kindle or on Audible) At the beginning of the year I set myself a goal to read 50 books this year, which is only possible if I also listen as I don't have enough time to sit down and read during the day but I can listen while I do chores around the house and when I am walking Xena. I am about to start my 47th book so I think I should make that goal. I finished The Promise by Damon Galgut on my dog walk today, it is short listed for the Booker prize and the winner is being announced tonight. It was an excellent book, and being set in South Africa it was very relevant and easy for me to understand the nuances of every situation. I hope it wins, it is the third time the author has been short listed.

I am getting the train up to London this evening as we are going to supper with Luke and Meriel to celebrate the end of Luke's exams. We are going back to The Cinnamon Club as it is excellent Indian food and they cater very well for vegetarian and vegan diets too, necessary as Meriel is vegan.
