Black Bryony garland

The first frost of the winter here in Peterborough, though it rapidly melted away. The Petunias that I bought from a DIY shop for 10p, and which have flowered profusely all summer, are not going to last much longer (see extra)!

Much of the day was spent dealing with emails and thinning out boxes of the boys' drawings and written work (saved from our home education days) to make more space in the loft. We've lived, worked  and home educated in the same house for twenty-seven years, which means there's an awful lot of accumulated clutter that gradually needs sorting!

I was quite amused to find a poster that Chris made (see extra) stating ' We need Old Trees'. Very appropriate as this year (over twenty years later) he's been writing management guidance for veteran trees as part of Buglife / Back from' the Brink's 'Ancients of the Future' project!

Late in the afternoon I delivered raspberry cupcakes to Ben and Chris, to see whether they were okay for inclusion in the cupcake tower. The buttercream was made using powdered dried raspberries which gave an excellent flavour but rather a lurid pink colour! Not sure it's quite subtle enough.

On my way home I had a rather cold, damp and gloomy walk round Thorpe Wood, where I used an app on my phone to create some abstract compositions. This one was particularly bright and cheerful!
