Who needs a sledge!

A lot of fun was had when walking the dog this morning, though not fun that she understands - I have several photos of her staring at my niece and nephew wondering what on earth they are doing. It was hard to choose a blip, but went for this in the end, for two reasons. The first is that I love the photo, but the second was to say a little about its subject.

I am extremely proud of my nephew Ross. He has been getting wonderful feedback from school recently, where things have been rather unsettled after the head teacher left (in a 1.5 teacher school that has a big impact on the kids). He has handled it all very well, and been great with the wee ones, helping them with all kinds of things and won an award for good citizenship (not for the first time). In addition to that, this afternoon Mum had a bad hypo, and we had the ambulance out, and Ross was an absolute star, bringing various things like cushions and blankets to keep Mum warm, and running along to get my sister from her work nearby. I should say that he can be horrible brat at times, but all in all he deserves a lot of credit! Mum is fine now.

Catacol has the excitement of being back on mains power, so we've already done two loads of washing. Our generator went off overnight, initially we thought it had been tripped by the increased usage as more folk arrived for Easter, but it seems it simply ran out of water and overheated. To be fair it was a beautiful warm day, so we were fine without it in the short term. We were told it would be back up by 10am, and then at 10.30 told that they wouldn't be putting it back on as they wanted to get us back on mains in the afternoon, so we were quite happy with that idea! And though they couldn't get Lochranza on mains yesterday evening, they did get us on, which is great. I have no idea where else has mains power now, but hope it is a lot of people. I was interested today to hear that we have every available mobile generator north of the M25 here at the moment! Many, many thanks are owed to the engineers who have worked so many hours to sort the many, many problems caused by the extreme weather a week ago.
