Bog Wood
I love the tannin blackened bits of wood that surface when the bog is drained. To think they have lain buried and preserved in the acidic and anaerobic conditions of the peat bogs for thousands of years! The bog wood which could be oak, yew or pine represents the early stages of fossilisation of the wood, later stages being lignite then coal, over millions of years.
working today despite the Bank Holiday but not too many visitors around, guess the freezing cold weather is keeping everyone at home.
