Daisy . . . or Daisy Mae!
Late last August when I was not active here on blip, we rescued a small Norwich Terrier. We named her Daisy (or Daisy Mae) and we love her! She and her brother and some other dogs were actually confiscated by the authorities because of the conditions where they were kept. :o(( They were in cages most of the time from what I learned and bred to sell the puppies . . . sigh. She was spayed after they were taken away and was living with a lovely foster mom at the time when we decided to adopt her. Her brother Tuck, was adopted by Dave & Helen who live across the River at Lucas Boatworks. Daisy & Tuck play together most every day!
What people remark the most when they meet her, is daisy's ears! The groomer we know who trimmed her said, "oh yeah, Butterfly ears! We can leave her fur long there!" So fun. I will add two more photos to the extras so you can see the size of her (very small!) and her sweet face.
Despite her rough background, she has been pretty easy to train. Steve was really interested in getting her to answer to a recall (get her back with us) and teach her a word to stop doing something dangerous or unwanted. He has worked a lot with her and I simply copy his training -it works like a charm! (pretty much!) Daisy is doing quite well with her training after only 2 months. The more difficult things we had to work with her were: Her fear of stairs, her fear of the thresholds between rooms & stepping over them, and a fear of food and water bowls! She has greatly improved and we think it is just a matter of time before she gets more used to these things - she's going into some rooms & stairs with much more ease. We think all of this behavior comes from her previous environment. With us, she gets lots of love and tons of positive reinforcement (good girl, good girl!). Plus she is just the cutest little dog!! If you have followed me in the past you know we had 2 dogs, Asia -who passed away in 2017 & Chloe -who passed away in Jan 2019. It's been some time, over 2 years, since we had a dog, but Steve & I agree she is just right for us!! Hooray!
P.S. She loves going in our small boat on the River!
