Set fire to the shed

Really didn't mean to set fire to the shed, but dayam it spread fast.

Spent yesterday and today burning all the dead plant stuff thats in the garden at Rancho - essentially the gardener has cleared about 1/6th acre of brush. Literally half the garden was hidden.

So it was all piled high and across the garden....so I dug a fire pit and burned it all.

And when I was burning the last little bit this morning, a hot ember flew out and landed on the shed.

When I saw it - it was only a little flame in a couple of places, but then realised that the neighbor whose hose I was borrowing (from that end of the garden - there were two hosepipes) had reeled his back in. In the 45 seconds it took to get that hose back the fire had properly spread and was burning away quite merrily.

Annoyingly his hose didn't quite reach inside, so a few buckets of water throw in to put that out as well.

Quite frightening how quickly it had got away from us.

Please note that in real life - the damage looks far far worse. This is just one corner.

My days of fire though are over. Not doing that again. Next time - I'll hire the chipper.

On a related note, we got a new investor in today! Yeehar. Friend of a friend. We couldn't do anything about Wisteria the other day, this guy has come in, contract sent in.

And we reckon he'll get it as well which is nice.

What was interesting was meeting him this evening briefly. Every time I see a property for someone, I write up what my wife and I found wrong with the property, and what a potential cost to fix might be based on our experience, and according to him we were pretty much spot on what they found as well, and that my costings were in the right ballpark.

Which I'm quite pleased about considering building construction and renovation is relatively new to me.
