Yellow sunset

We were too early for the sun this morning. Walked down the hill to the estuary for a change, but it was still not properly light by the time we got there. No time to hang around today because we had arranged to borrow a trailer from our next door neighbours and spend the day clearing up our section. It used to be our rental property until the earthquake shook it about so that it was unsafe for our tenant. The house was demolished a while back, and we've had a huge macrocarpa hedge removed since then. The grass and weeds grow, as well as some remaining shrubs, so we've been taking our as much as possible leaving just grass to cut. No likelihood of our rebuilding in the short term. It's a great spot though, with views over the city to the sea. After the trimming, we can see the sea again!

So today's shot is the sunset from our place. I was hoping it would work, as the clouds were looking promising. I did photograph a few flowers in the evening light as back-up, which was good because I often miss out on plants while they are at their best, and that means waiting until next year. Today it was leucodendrons and Marlborough daisy seedheads.
