Friday

A rather overcast day.

We went to Abbey House as it was sheltered. Sad to see that 3 pine trees have been removed , partly because they were ' old' but the main reason is they are expanding the car park, which means less grass. . I'm just hoping they dont extend it too far as one of the delights of this place is the wide open green space surrounded by some wonderful trees.  There only seems to be one spot in the whole place where you can find the red toadstools.... right alongside where they will no doubt be tarmacing .
They have already removed some shrubbery near the entrance to the extension, so it looks like more building work is planned.

But, today we were able to enjoy the peace and the greenery of the place.

We took our time and Fletch enjoyed his freedom.

I only had the phone camera. I was trying to get a decent in shot focus and was crouched down low. Fletch immediately came over to sniff out what I was doing. Managed to grab this shot.

Back home and it stayed quiet till it got dark but about 5:30 the fireworks started. Fletch began shaking and went very subdued. Even with the television on to block the sound we could still hear them clearly as they were going off right above our house. We cuddled him and stroked him but he wasnt himself. ... even refused his favourite titbits. It didnt help when
Look North did a feature on how fireworks can cause anxiety in people as well as animals and then had footage of loud fireworks!

It was a few hours before the noise subsided and Fletch was tempted to eat anything.

I used to love Bonfire Night. We had a few fireworks.. pretty ones not noisy ones and the highlight was the bonfire and baking potatoes in the flames. I've good memories of that.

If they could at least ban the ones with loud bangs it would be a start.

Meanwhile we are bracing ourselves for a repeat of the noise tonight!

Thank you all for the many stars and lovely comments over the last few days. They are always appreciated.
