Oil-watermill

The Oil-watermill or Spaubeker oil mill is a former watermill near the hamlet of Oude Kerk near Spaubeek in the Dutch South Limburg municipality of Beek. The watermill stood on the Geleenbeek. Upstream on this stream was the Borgermolen, downstream was the Sint Jansmolen. The mill received water from a mill branch that split off about 220 meters above the mill and rejoined after the mill.
The mill already existed in 1880. It was a small oil mill with a farm, built-in half-timbering, and covered by a gable roof. The mill had an undershot wheel of 77 centimeters wide and 4.92 meters in diameter.

At the end of the 1880s, the condition of the wheel and the lock works was very bad and renewal was necessary.

In 1895 the mill was renovated and got a center turn wheel with a bolster (crop wheel).

In 1916 the mill was dismantled and the owners no longer had weir or water rights.

In 1946 it was converted into a residence.
