Black Winged Stilt

These elegant birds were plentiful in the salt pans of the Ria Formosa when we walked around the pans this afternoon.  I wasn't allowed to get very close before they flew to another part of the pool, but I cropped this to get a reasonable blip.  Some better shots are of course available.

We have wanted to eat there for several years and we're glad that we went tonight.  We walked there and back, about 3km round trip, which meant that we didn't feel too bloated when we got "home".  Lovely stuff!
