Finale

Lots of human interaction today - starting with a Zoom meeting followed by a Teams meeting to discuss the first draft of a documents detailing the steps needed to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain at Bainton Pits.

This was followed by a working lunch at the local farm shop, planning the next stages in the rejuvenation of our Wildlife Trust Local Group. We were joined by a potential new recruit to the committee, which is good news as our number has dwindled over the last couple of years. We sat outside, and despite the fact that I'd wrapped up warmly, we were all feeling the chill after nearly three hours of discussion!

I dropped in at the farm shop before heading home, as I wanted to order the Christmas meat. We were planning to have venison again rather than turkey. The butcher happened to have a nice sized haunch of local fallow deer in the back of the shop, so I bought that and it's now been popped into the freezer. Christmas Day main course sorted!

In the evening Pete, Alex, Charley and I went to the Castor village fireworks display, which had sold out for the first time in its history. We met up with Ben, Sarah and some friends, and drank beer and ate pork rolls while watching the huge bonfire and the excellent display. It was wonderful to see so many families out enjoying themselves, though not all the children appreciated the fireworks!
