On the menu - Platinum and custard

Woke with a hangover but got dragged out of bed as we had to get my engagement ring resized after having to fish it out the bin the other day!

So we ventured to the Jewellery Quarter, my first time, and had the same assistant as when the boy came with my jewellery expert extraordinaire friend! She was lovely and did us a deal on some wedding rings. Called the jewellery expert extraordinaire friend to check it was a good price. She explain it was but try and shop around to get the price down and so we did. We went next door and were 'welcomed' by a grunt and a stare by the two sale assistants.

We told them what we needed and they opened the counter and started throwing the rings on the scale. Then said they didn't have one at the correct size but would stretch the boys. Er no, Terribly rude, I would love to name and shame but they will get their comeuppance as the shop was empty. They are the type of business who will go bust but blame the recession when it clearly was down to customer service. Rant over!

Anyway found a shop that would do it cheaper but due to the good customer service we went back to the original shop, got a bit more knocked off and came away with one ring (mine's on order).

Would highly recommend the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, much more fun than shopping on the high street and there's a bargain to be had.

We also popped over to the custard factory in Digbeth to get a picture framed. Another recommendation if you love anything vintage, retro or just downright cool. As its full of little independent shops selling new and second hand stuff and every time you go there will be a new shop that's popped up. Although there is always a chance your favourite shop will have gone too :( Check out the graffiti around Digbeth, there is something quite extraordinary around every corner! I miss my lunchtime walks round the block with a colleague moaning about work and checking out the graffiti!

Favourite Custard factory shop: Blakeley Browns. Vintage houseware, we bought a huge Smiths clock from there which was from a swimming baths dating back to the 30's. It now hangs proudly in our dining room.

Dinner with the boys friends better halves this evening. One pregnant and the other two driving so I had a reason to just have diet coke. I will feel better for it in the morning!
