Two Swans

We all had a good day today, the final day of this week-long break in the splendid Lake District.

After a lazy start and a light breakfast, Hollie dog took her humans to Elterwater. A place of sublime beauty, and we all walked the gentle paths and ways, alongside the river Brathay.

The weather was very kind, and after visiting Skelwith Force waterfalls we stopped at the Skelwith Hotel for coffee and a brief rest. 

On the drive back to our rented cottage I pulled over to let a car go past.

A Jaguar. Xk8. Convertible. 

I followed him for a while but his road holding skills along the narrow walled lanes put me to the test and I let him win in the end. We passed him in Coniston village and I admired those sleek and stylish lines. Mmmmmmm... 

Got back, quick cuppa and a most relaxing dunk in the hot tub before showering and having our final evening meal of the week. 

We have had a fantastic time and again we leave with some sadness and a fresh yearning to come back soon.
