Pilgrims

Sunday in Sheffield means one thing: lunch at the Fat Cat. The world’s best pub. I know these things are subjective and you might disagree because you have a personal favourite. But I’ve been to them all (just about) and you’re wrong.
Todays lunch celebrated both the wedding of Dave and Jayne and the 35th anniversary of starting university, where we all met and stumbled (literally) across the FC.
It’s amazing how much this area has changed in the last 35 years. Once it was a decidedly dodgy area, sandwiched between a notorious red light district and an industrial wasteland. Getting there was part of the adventure. I think it’s only in the last couple of years I’ve actually been able to get there without consulting a map. Now it’s got a museum documenting the industrial heritage, trendy coffee shops and restaurants, hundreds of new flats and there are cycle paths and signposted footpaths.
Times change but it’s a pilgrimage that has become strangely important to many of us.

Anyway, here’s some new artwork at the side of the pub.
