The Wash Hoose

On a long walk this afternoon I came across this communal clothes washing shed across the road from two hand cranked pumps. People from the West Coast of Scotland might have called such a place ‘The Steamie’ whilst in Edinburgh it would simply have been ‘The Wash Hoose’.
There was a real feeling of Autumn in the air with the smell of burning leaves in nearby fields.
