Day 312/21. A Cape Sundew leaf...

I have a small collection of carniverous plants now. Venus Flytraps, Pitcher Plants and this one is my latest. This is a Drosera capensis, the Cape Sundew from South Africa. My picture shows about 2cm of a leaf.
Drosera capensis uses its sticky tentacles to attract and catch flies and other insects. Contact triggers a curling reaction, where the plant wraps up its prey and eventually digests and absorbs the victim's nutrients.
Not a happy place for an insect to land.
