Fishguard Fort
“A good photograph is knowing where to stand.”
Ansel Adams
Morning drizzle again so a delayed wander into Fishguard; K1 wanted to do some family history ferreting and get some snaps of places her ancestors lived, in Lower Town and Tower Hill. There was also more wool to get, and a visit to Seaways bookshop for me. A leisurely – and very good – lunch in The Abergwaun Hotel before heading off for a wander around the Quay at Lower Town and a short walk to the Fort on the headland. The 18th century fort was apparently built to defend the port against attack, following a bombardment by an American privateer during the war of Independence.
