Christmas cake part 2.
Everything put on hold this morning as we were waiting for the engineer to come and fix the oven (if you remember it was playing up last Sunday). He arrived just after nine thirty and fitted a new circuit board but it still had a fault, he removed the board and put it back in still no joy, turns out it was the settings knob that’s faulty, unfortunately that part is no longer available. Phew good job we have insurance - if it can’t be repaired then they have to replace. Trouble is the oven is obsolete - a waiting game now to see what replacement they offer.
We finally got out on our doggie walk albeit slightly later than normal. Back home it’s time for me to get the next stage of the Christmas cake done, the boozy fruit smelt lovely, we believed that the oven was still operating as we used it to cook dinner yesterday and the engineer said we could still use it, forty minutes in we smelt burning on opening the oven door we saw to our dismay the top of the cake was burnt but the inside was still raw, what to do - throw it out or put it in the top oven and let it carry on cooking, we chose the latter, just removed it and letting it cool and will decide tomorrow if it’s still edible, if not the whole process will start again.
