Hamnavoe and tug
This was about 11:00 this morning when the winds were strong, the ferry had been stuck for an hour and the tug was helping it get into the harbour.
The boat on the right is 'Karin', a dive boat. Smaller boats like Karin didn't have such a problem.
The good news is that the ferry made it today so we got newspapers; we didn't have to go without our crossword puzzles again.
from 'the Orcadian' on-line:
" Hamnavoe ... had to be assisted back into the berth at Stromness after suffering engine trouble this morning.
A tug, Odin of Scapa, and a pilot boat* went to escort the ship after it went down to being powered by just a single engine. .....
NorthLink Ferries says the engine was shut down as a precaution. The issue has now been fully resolved and the engine is operating as normal. "
(the pilot boat isn't in my shot)
