Our village was first mentioned in the 8th Century. Time travellers from those days would be bemused by the cranes, and steel structures mushrooming on the former farmland. So are we. Today we walked, as a respite from all those removal boxes, on a familiar route. Since we last walked this way not only was this crane busy but we also saw a new house being built in the former garden of an old residential property.

Our new neighbours are being very welcoming. Those on the western boundary insisted on lending me their lawnmower this afternoon. It will keep the lawn in check over the winter and allow time to research and purchase a battery powered one. We also want to encourage some grass on the lawn to grow un-mown to assist the bees.

This evening we watched the tv news reports of migrants on the Polish Belarusian border in disbelief. When we lived in Warsaw we took the night train to Minsk for a long weekend over the Polish Independence Day November holiday. It was one of the most memorable trips we made from Warsaw during the four years we worked and lived there.
