Millaa Millaa - The home of cow tipping?
Today was a busy day! Leaving Paranella Park, we took the scenic route via Elinjaa Falls (apparently THE place to go and take mucky photos of your girlfriend in the water....), Zillie falls (where people go to take mucky photos and then realise they're at the wrong one), and Millaa Millaa falls a really pretty falls with a large clear plunge pool. You can even go behind the water!
On the road again, we drove through Millaa Millaa town. Town is probably stretching it a bit - it was a single road with some little shops and bars with a scattered houses. What makes Millaa Millaa so memorable is for such a tiny township, they have 3 statues! This one was particularly interesting....
A tribute to cow tipping?
And then the heavens opened.
Rains of biblical proportions hit as we went in search of the Mount Hypipamee crater - really spectacular - it was created by a volcano erupting near by, and this was a sort of blow hole where a cork of rock was blown out of the ground by the escaping gasses, but no lava came out - leaving a sheer sided hole in the ground with a lake at the bottom.
Seriously - never been so wet.
In the afternoon, we rolled into Atherton and stayed at the Big4 site - a very smart site but populated by very grumpy retired people!
We considered going to see the 'Crystal Caves' but we were told that the 'caves' is just someone's converted hall and a lot of fibre glass!
