Crocosmia Seedhead

A mild grey day with no sky at all... the hills are gone and the mists roll over the trees on the other side of the railway line. It's not a day for venturing far.

This crocosmia, like everything else in the garden, is slowly being reclaimed by the soil in the annual autumnal recycling. A final clutch of seeds is thrown out into the world, just in case, but these are as likely to fall onto the patio as the earth. I rather liked their colours, straight out of the camera and unchanged from the original shot; only darkened by the flash that highlights the dew drops bejewelling them. Do give it a large look. :-)

This afternoon there's a presentation by the local authority as to the proposed new railway station. I must try to find some enthusiasm for going out...
