Brooding?

The first coat of paint is on. My friend described this as ‘brooding’ which instantly made me think of Heathcliff and storm clouds. I find it a happier colour myself. I am so looking forward to this being finished. The decorator has been meticulous in sorting out all the little bits of damage that have accumulated over the years.

Goodness knows what I will do with the fireplace though - quite a monstrosity. I thought I’d see how it looks with the new colour. The plan is to get a replica of the original made, but not yet. I’m also looking at eco alternatives to wood burners and open fires. Bioethanol a possibility…
