Dog's ball (on a bed of blueberry ash petals)
Sounds delicious n'est-ce pas?
It's time for the blueberry ash to shed its pink ballerina / bell shaped flowers again. I guess they're called petals even though they are tiny thin little hairy things really. It can get messy (to some people's eyes). I always love it when they are left for days (or in this case, my partner reminded me this morning, weeks) to create an even carpet.
Ellie paid little or no attention to her (pictured) ball today, choosing instead to spend six hours straight (our son informs me) catching up on some sleep (see extra). She did manage to move from her left side to her right side at some stage without losing her thrown-on jacket.
She always has at least one ball in the backyard. At the moment she has two - this one is obviously on the way out. People leave them on the soccer field and she steals them on our evening walks and brings them home (when we let her). Her other one at the moment is being skinned. She (usually) meticulously peels the outer layer of the ball off. She sometimes manages to nearly completely skin them before they burst - extraordinary...
Apparently blueberry ash berries are indeed edible.
