grandpa to grandson

a tribute on this veterans day

that’s my dad on the left - my nephew on the right - one served in - the korean war - while the other served - 2 tours in afghanistan - one went because he was told to go - he was called by our government - to serve his country - while the other - decided to follow the call - saw what his grandfather - had done with a - brave heart and wanted to - follow suit himself

scripture tells us

greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. john 15:13 (esv)

the other had many opportunities - to put this into practice - while serving his tours - as he shared with his - grandpa it wasn’t necessarily - something he wanted to do - it was a calling he felt compelled - to put into action - so that we could - continue to live freely on a daily basis - and although what he saw - and experienced was different - from what his grandfather did - in korea, it bound them together - in inexplicable ways - he will never forget - let us not forget - those who answer the call - to serve and protect - our country so we all can live to have…
