Timberrrrrr !

A fitting life sized  bronze memorial to the WW2 Women's Timber Corp in the Queen Elizabeth Forest park near Aberfoyle. Up to 13,000 women joined up between 1942 to 1946 to join the corp taking over the duties of our men in the forestry who had left to join the armed forces.
I once knew a lady who served in them ( sadly no longer with us ) and remember her saying how really hard the work was in all sorts of weather, but that it was a wonderful experience and great fun.
They were known to all as the Lumber Jills  and very much unsung heroes.
