Book Scrum

The French predilection for rugby comes in handy when fighting to get to the action and retrieve the required book. In Anglo-Saxon culture the fight would probably be to reach the bar. But such is the French passion for books and reading, it's scrum down to get to your favourite author.

There is nothing like this, in my experience, outside of France. People love to read, books are important and authors are revered.

I have spent all day signing books for passionate readers. Exhaustion has now set in, and I resent the loss of an hour's sleep with the clock change. It all begins again tomorrow.
