Holborn Library

Holborn Library was one of the first Modernist Libraries built in the UK and was a trend-setter in its time.  It looks rather dated now, partly because it hasn't been maintained well.  A year ago, plans to redevelop the site were put on hold.  The Library backs onto Cockpit Arts, which was a lively arts community (back in the mists of time it was used for cock-fighting, hence the name).  The whole site was due to be redeveloped to remodel the Library, provide revamped studio spaces and some new homes.  I guess the Library staff are feeling everything is upside down at the moment and hence the unusual installation glimpsed through the window from Theobalds Road.
