Flaming tar barrels in Ottery St Mary, Devon....

Staying with friends outside Ottery St Mary, we are drawn into the 5th November tradition of running flaming tar barrels through the town. Could be dangerous and its surprising that Health & Safety haven't caught on to it ; the insurance for the evening runs to £ 25,000 ! Not sure what's behind it all, probably a Pagan ceremony to celebrate the end of the harvest. All great fun - give it a go if you are in the area !
