An early evening in my local
I hurriedly made a leek and potato soup this afternoon as I had arranged to go to out local with Keith, who is back for the weekend in the Stroud area. By the time he arrived at our house the sun was occasionally breaking through the clouds again, and there was a sense of brightness to the early evening.
The Crown is only two hundred yards from our house, so there wasn't much exercise involved. Once there we supped our halves of the local Stroud Brewery's Budding ale as we chatted. It didn't take long to get onto the subject of cameras and photography and he was interested to see my new camera. It was in this very pub three years ago, probably when sitting at the same table, that he first told me about Blipfoto, which he had just joined. I took a look and after a few months I signed up as well.
Keith is now doing a photography course at college, whilst still managing to get work freelancing as a sub-editor in Bristol. I suggested he pick up my camera and try it as I knew he was interested in equipment. I took a picture I really liked of two children of H., a recent friend, who I'd also met in this pub when getting involved in the local community group she was helping to form. But I stupidly forgot to ask her for permission to blip them all, despite having told her about Blipfoto thinking she might like to join.
So I am blipping one of Keith's pictures, which he told me he liked when we reviewed them at the time. I nearly blipped a portrait of him I did as an experiment, when playing with the camera's auto HDR function, but he might not like that!
