Portobello Sunrise 7:45am

Barney the Beetle car picked me up at 7:15 am this morning to take me down to swim at Porty with his driver LeeAnne and watch the sunrise

We were not the only early risers, there were one or two other groups already bobbing about in the water when we disrobed and took the plunge. Interestingly they were all women.

How amazing it was to float on the water and watch the sky to the east turning to shades of pink and orange as the sun rose above the Joppa houses.

Once dressed we repaired to the Beach House for breakfast and a hot drink, watching increasing numbers of young women with bobble hats and skimpy bathing costumes skip into the briny and skip back out 10 minutes, later very pink.

Barney the Beetle Car had business in town and was kind enough to give me a lift home. I was very surprised to be back in the house by 9:30.

What a marvellous start to a day filled with golden sunshine and long shadows.
