A burning land

After work to the New York Times Climate Hub. Its a venue that has caught people's imagination during COP26, with its interior forest of trees.

It was good to hear the trees will be replanted into a community garden nearby.

And a privilege to hear Youth Negotiator Fatou Yeng speak - the chatty crowd fell silent for her.

And for the moment pictured, where Little Amal - a 12 foot puppet representing a young Syrian refugee - walked through the space, dragging a burnt tree, with the sounds and images of a forest on fire around her.

And we stood, with warming glasses of wine in our hands. A visceral wake up call.
