Common newt

I often come across newts when I'm clearing up in the garden. They aren't fast movers so I usually have time to wash my hands, find the camera, change the lens, and make a cup of tea before returning to where I left them. I found one under a coconut shell a few days ago. I've just consulted wiki to confirm that it's a common newt and found a picture of a palmate newt. I'll have to be alert in the next breeding season to confirm which species I have in my garden pond.
