Fabulous 49
I was hoping for a better shot of a Cedar Waxwing this year, but I didn't get any good looks at them in the yard this spring so now is my chance. Our Easter Redcedars are laden with berries right now, a favored food of many birds including the aptly named Cedar Waxwing. Today there were about 30 waxies flitting in and out of the cedar grove - the light in the afternoon was actually good, but the distance and angle were not great. But unless I get something better, this will be my visual record of this beautiful species for 2021. Interestingly, the entire flock appeared to all be adults - usually this time of year most of the flocks are immature birds.
Had a great FT chat with mom and dad this morning - until Jax went into high gear and started trying to eat the ficus. So, maybe we will catch up during the week.
Jax is in full teething mode so he wants to chew...everything. Not his fault, and it's a temporary thing, but we still have to watch him closely so that he doesn't chew something that's bad for him. Like the ficus which is not good for dogs. Currently looking to rehome the ficus.
We took Jax over to the park today for a nice walk - he loved it and greeted everyone he saw with tail wags and butt wiggles (really, who can resist?) And he got to meet a big staffordshire terrier mix from Germany which was fun. The owners of the dog were so nice and were putting lots of loving on Jax. And their dog was SO well behaved! Speaking of behaving, I enrolled Jax (and Hubs and I) in Obedience Training 101 classes starting 23 December. In the meantime, we will continue to work with him on walking, come, and sit. I think he is both smart and a bit stubborn, so training with rewards will be the way to get him to become a well-behaved adult dog one day.
Dark with fruit today. And a salad for dinner. I'd like to lose another 5 pounds if possible.
