Microcosm

This large and beautiful leaf is from the Dutchmen's Pipe vine on my potting shed.  I love the color and the symmetry of the veining.  It reminded me of how I would do leaf printing with my Kindergarten students each fall all those years ago.  They would use their "limbs and trunks" to pose like different types of trees.  It was always wonderful when they suddenly saw the whole tree in the leaf.  Microcosm: encapsulating in miniature the characteristic qualities or features of something much larger.

OMG!  Clicking on what I posted last year on this day I see it was the young men installing the roof on the front of the house!  So, it took one full year to get it all done.
