National Curling Day

Today is Scotland's first ever National Curling Day and I celebrated with a win in my club game this evening.

It is such a great team sport and one of the few where all ages, genders and abilities can play together. It is a very sociable game that starts and ends with handshakes (or elbow taps nowadays). When the game finishes the teams retire to the bar and the winners buy the drinks.

If you've ever wanted to try it, now's the time. You don't need any special equipment as everything is provided by the ice rink. Just wrap up warm and take a clean pair of flat soled shoes or trainers. You can find your nearest ice rink and try curling session at www.trycurling.com
