Golden Orb Weaver Spider

Family Nephilidae - female.

Quite a beauty and an impressive size - body size of maybe 25 to 30mm and extended leg length of about 60 to 70mm. These are one of the largest spiders in Australia and have a really impressive three dimensional web, which is a golden colour (hence the name). This one is in my parents' garden.

Bigger is better, but not for everyone.
