Campo Lombardo near Stia

This is a beautiful mainly unpaved road that runs near the upper Arno valley.

We’d woken with plans ‘to do cleaning’ but took a gentle drive instead to enjoy the autumn colours that don’t last forever. It was balm to the soul.

This part of the road is planted with a more elegant variety of oak than the native Downy Oaks called ‘rovere’.

Hence the title of my forthcoming squeezed lemons and cracked nuts ecological Tuscan tearjerker, ‘The Rovere’s Return.’
