A Saturday in London
Isla wanted to see a couple of exhibitions so our first stop was the Barbican. I’d never been there and was not terribly impressed with some of the brutal concrete architecture which reminded me of some local authority building back in the Granite City. Nevertheless the conservatory was worth a visit as was the exhibition by the Japanese designer Noguchi - now I know where the designs for all those IKEA lampshades comes from.
In the afternoon we went to the summer exhibition at the Royal Academy which was a mixture of good, bad, sublime and ridiculous artwork. We didn’t buy anything.
We ended up on Piccadilly (mobbed) and enjoyed the Christmas Fortrum and Mason decorations. About 22k steps, so an early night.
