Pontcysyllte Aqueduct views

Covered someone else's volunteering today at Trevor Basin. A dull day but with the sunlight bursting through the clouds and creating the most gorgeous light. Autumnal colours really coming into play. A quiet day but this means more time to connect and chat with the locals who also like to walk the heritage site.

The blip photo was taken in the middle of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct looking towards the Cefn Viaduct.

"Built in 1848 to carry the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway across the River Dee, the viaduct measures 1508ft (466m) in length and stands 147ft (45m) above the river level.
Designed by Scottish civil engineer and railway pioneer Henry Robertson, and built by railway contractor Thomas Brassey in just two years, the structure is supported by nineteen arches of 60 foot (18 metres) spans and two of 30 feet (9 metres)."
