The Clothesline Tree
All our two hundred plus olive trees are heavily laden this year, but seems no-one wants to harvest them... our neighbour's sheep are getting fat on the ones that fall and, of course, they enrich the soil, but it does seem a shame. Especially as they are good ones, deep rooted, totally organic, unwatered, full of goodness. I could pick a few to cure, but we've still got loads from last year.
Here is an article worth reading if you're still not convinced about the value of wearing a mask, which begins: Mask-wearing is the single most effective public health measure at tackling Covid, reducing incidence by 53%, the first global study of its kind shows. I'm not keen on wearing one, as I have asthma and it does make it more difficult to breathe, but surely it's worth it to save lives?
Anyway, Ermelinda and Cecílio arriving in a few minutes for supper - soup from our squash and tomatoes, and Mike's bread - just to catch up after a month apart. The fire is lit, the room is warm, and now I've Blipped... we are ready.
Gratefuls:
- living in a country where folk wear masks when needed
- sand and gravel being delivered so Mike can start on base for water tank
- friends coming for an evening together; it's been a week since we've socialised with anyone, last one was with Kevin at The Townhouse in Sutton!
