Confusing Homophones

Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny and The Eldest Mini Princess,

The Youngest Mini Princess was talking about different courses and universities. She asked about all the different Scottish universities and one of us mentioned Stirling.

YMP: “I forget about Stirling being in Scotland. I keep thinking it’s in England because, you know, pound sterling.”

Stunned silence from both parents.

Us (in unison): “It’s a different spelling” before explaining, “Pound sterling has NOTHING to do with the place, Stirling”.

Pennies were audibly dropped!
